The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56341 is a welded pipe nipple manufactured from galvanized steel to Schedule 40 specifications. It provides a 24-inch threaded extension between two 4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections, making it a standard component in commercial and industrial piping systems. The galvanized finish delivers corrosion resistance for wet or outdoor environments. With a wall thickness of 0.237 inches and a maximum working pressure of 2210 psi, this nipple is built to handle demanding service conditions. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on water, gas, or general fluid distribution systems.
This nipple is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial applications where a full-length 24-inch run is needed between two threaded connections. Common install scenarios include water supply mains, fire protection risers, HVAC hydronic piping, and industrial process lines. The 4-8 thread count and 1.74-inch thread engagement length conform to ANSI B1.20.1 standards, ensuring reliable makeup with standard NPT fittings and valves. The galvanized zinc coating is appropriate for above-ground or exposed interior piping where moisture is a factor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 4-inch Schedule 40 NPT piping systems conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC codes for the intended service fluid. De-pressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing threaded nipples. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before makeup; do not over-tighten, as this can stress the pipe wall or crack fittings. Verify that the galvanized finish is compatible with the fluid or gas being conveyed, as zinc coatings are not suitable for all chemical services.
