The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56286 is a Schedule 40 galvanized steel welded pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial piping systems. Measuring 60 inches in length with a 1-1/2 inch diameter and male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends, this nipple is built to ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards with a wall thickness of 0.145 inches. It is rated for pressures up to 1,300 psi and an operating temperature range of -150 to 200 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as a ready-to-thread length of pipe between fittings, valves, or equipment connections.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial installations where a long-run threaded connection is required. The galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in wet or exposed environments, making it appropriate for water supply, fire suppression, and industrial fluid-transfer applications. With a 1.03-inch thread engagement length on each end, it provides a secure, code-compliant connection when assembled with standard MPT fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 40 galvanized steel threaded piping systems using 1-1/2 inch MPT fittings and valves.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC and IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the relevant piping system before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as this can crack fittings or damage threads.
