The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56132 is a welded pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial piping systems. Manufactured from galvanized steel to Schedule 40 specifications, it measures 9 inches in length with a 1-1/4 inch diameter and male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in wet or exposed environments. With a wall thickness of 0.14 inches and a pressure rating of 1,300 psi, this nipple is suited for demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, compressed air lines, and gas supply piping where galvanized steel fittings are required or specified. The 1-1/4 inch MPT-by-MPT configuration allows direct connection between two female-threaded fittings, valves, or pipe sections. Its SCH 40 wall rating and ANSI B1.20.1 thread dimensional standard make it compatible with standard NPT-threaded components across a wide range of applications. The rated temperature range of -150 to 200 degrees F covers most residential and commercial mechanical system environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1-1/4 inch NPT female-threaded fittings, valves, and pipe couplings conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC requirements where gas service is involved. Shut off supply pressure and depressurize the line before disassembling or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before makeup, and tighten to hand-tight plus wrench turns per standard practice without over-torquing. Inspect for leaks after restoring pressure.
