The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56080 is a close-pattern galvanized steel pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, gas distribution, and general industrial piping systems. Both ends are threaded 3/4-14 NPT male pipe thread (MPT), making it a straight-run connector for joining same-size fittings or extending a run. Overall length is 1-3/8 inches with a thread engagement length of 0.79 inches and a wall thickness of 0.113 inches. The Schedule 40 construction and 150 lb pressure class support working pressures up to 700 psi, meeting ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in a wide range of applications.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping runs where a short male-to-male threaded connection is required. Typical uses include gas supply lines, water distribution headers, boiler piping, and compressed-air manifolds. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for both interior and moderate-exposure exterior installations. Its compact 1-3/8 inch length makes it appropriate for tight-clearance installations where longer nipples will not fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting compatible with standard 3/4 inch Schedule 40 threaded steel pipe systems conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 thread specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code or International Fuel Gas Code as required by the application. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly; do not overtighten, as this can crack fittings or damage threads. Confirm pressure class suitability for the specific service before installation.
