The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56045 is a welded pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and general industrial piping systems. It features 3/8-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends and measures 3-1/2 inches in overall length. Constructed from galvanized steel at Schedule 40 wall thickness, this nipple delivers a pressure rating of 700 psi and handles temperatures from -150 to 200 degrees F. The 0.091-inch wall thickness and 0.6-inch thread engagement length meet ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in gas, water, and compressed-air distribution lines where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial applications where galvanized steel pipe assemblies are specified. Common install scenarios include water supply branch lines, natural gas drop lines, and compressed-air distribution manifolds. The galvanized finish provides corrosion protection in exposed or mildly corrosive environments. Its Schedule 40 rating makes it compatible with standard threaded black and galvanized pipe systems typically found in mechanical rooms, utility areas, and above-grade piping runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard Schedule 40 threaded galvanized steel pipe systems using 3/8-inch NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before disassembling or connecting any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench with proper backup to avoid cracking galvanized fittings.
