The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 56025 is a welded galvanized steel pipe nipple rated for Schedule 40 service. It features 1/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends and measures 3.5 inches in overall length. The galvanized steel construction provides corrosion resistance in standard plumbing and gas distribution applications. Wall thickness is 0.068 inches, and the 1/4-18 thread form conforms to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards. Working pressure is rated at 700 psi, with a temperature range of -150 to 200 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple as a close connector between threaded fittings, valves, and threaded pipe ends in low-pressure piping systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, compressed air, and low-pressure gas piping applications where a short threaded connector is required between fittings. The Schedule 40 wall rating and galvanized finish make it a standard choice for above-ground pipe runs where moisture exposure is a factor. It is also appropriate for use in compressed air distribution lines within the rated pressure and temperature limits.
Designed as a standard SCH 40 galvanized steel pipe nipple for use with 1/4-inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and couplings in conformance with ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off the water, gas, or compressed air supply and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus the number of turns required to achieve a leak-free joint without over-stressing the threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
