The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 55207 is a Schedule 80 PVC pipe nipple rated for 125 psi service. It measures 6 inches in length with a 3-inch diameter and features male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends. Manufactured from dark gray PVC, this nipple meets ASTM F1498 dimensional standards, ensuring consistent thread form and fit. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure handling and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making it a reliable choice for industrial and commercial plumbing runs. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters specify this type of fitting where chemical resistance and moderate pressure ratings are required.
The 55207 is suited for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems in commercial, industrial, and municipal applications. Common install scenarios include chemical processing lines, irrigation headers, pump discharge assemblies, and general water distribution where PVC is the specified material. The 3-inch MPT on both ends threads directly into female-threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. This nipple is not intended for high-temperature service or applications exceeding its rated working pressure.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 3-inch female-threaded (FPT) fittings, valves, and equipment ports.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Always depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing threaded PVC fittings. Use a strap wrench rather than metal pipe wrenches to avoid cracking the PVC body, and apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for PVC and the service fluid. Do not exceed the 125 psi rated working pressure or use this fitting in systems carrying fluids above the temperature rating of Schedule 80 PVC.
