The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 540606A is a 45-degree push-to-connect elbow fitting designed for pneumatic and fluid transfer lines where a directional change is needed without threaded assembly on both ends. One side accepts 3/8-inch push-in tubing for fast, tool-free connection, while the other side terminates in a 3/8-inch male NPT (MNPTF) thread for secure engagement with standard ported components. Constructed from brass with a 3/8-18 thread specification, this fitting is rated to 150 psi and handles a temperature range of -40 to 200 degrees F. It meets DOT push-to-connect standards, making it suitable for air brake and pneumatic system applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fleet mechanics are the typical installers.
This fitting is commonly used in compressed air lines, pneumatic control circuits, and DOT-rated air brake systems on commercial vehicles and stationary equipment. The 45-degree angle allows routing through tight spaces where a straight fitting or a sharper 90-degree elbow would not fit cleanly. Its compact form factor suits both mobile and fixed-installation environments. The MNPTF male thread end connects directly to valves, manifolds, solenoids, or ported fittings with a standard NPT port.
Designed as a DOT-rated push-to-connect replacement or new-installation fitting for pneumatic systems and air brake lines using 3/8-inch OD tubing and 3/8-inch NPT ported components.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or qualified fleet mechanics working on pneumatic or air brake systems. Before installation, depressurize and bleed down the line completely. Ensure the MNPTF thread end is sealed with PTFE tape or an approved thread sealant per the applicable piping code. Push-in tubing must be cut cleanly and squarely to seat properly and form a leak-free connection.
