The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 52143 is a seamless Schedule 80 pipe nipple rated for demanding industrial and mechanical piping applications. Machined from 316 stainless steel, it offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard 304 SS, making it a reliable choice in wet, chemical-exposed, or high-temperature environments. Both ends are threaded 1-1/2 in Male Pipe Thread (MPT) conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread standards. The nipple measures 3 inches in length with a 1-1/2 inch diameter and carries a 3,000 psi pressure rating at full Schedule 80 wall thickness. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this fitting in a wide range of service lines.
This nipple is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial piping systems. Its 316 stainless construction and SCH 80 wall rating make it appropriate for air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service lines where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, reducing the risk of failure points under pressure or thermal cycling. It connects two threaded pipe segments or fittings of the same 1-1/2 in MPT size and is commonly used in boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, process piping, and chemical-adjacent plumbing systems.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service lines. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 stainless steel piping systems using standard 1-1/2 in NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply a suitable thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service media before engaging threads. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as 316 stainless fittings can gall if excessive torque is applied without proper lubrication.
