The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 52066 is a seamless Schedule 80 pipe nipple machined from 316 stainless steel, designed for high-pressure piping systems across HVAC, plumbing, and industrial applications. It measures 4 inches in length with a 1/2-inch outside diameter and carries male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread standards. The 1/2-14 thread pitch and SCH 80 wall thickness support a pressure class rating of 3000 psi, making it suitable for demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this nipple where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required.
This nipple is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam media, covering a wide range of residential and commercial piping scenarios. Typical installations include boiler connections, gas distribution lines, steam headers, hydraulic assemblies, and chilled-water or condenser-water piping where standard carbon steel fittings would corrode prematurely. The 316 stainless steel alloy offers improved resistance to chlorides and aggressive process fluids compared to 304 SS, making it a common choice in coastal environments and chemical-adjacent applications.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam media systems. Designed as an OEM-style SCH 80 seamless stainless steel replacement nipple for 1/2-inch NPT piping assemblies in residential and commercial installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and IFGC codes. Depressurize and isolate the piping segment completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the specific media - confirm sealant compatibility with natural gas or steam service before use. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as excessive torque can stress the fitting threads and compromise the seal.
