The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 52028 is a Schedule 80 seamless pipe nipple rated for demanding pressure applications across a wide range of piping systems. Machined from 316 stainless steel, it measures 5 inches in length with a 1/4 inch outside diameter and features 1/4-18 NPT male threaded ends on both sides conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread standards. The SCH 80 wall thickness supports a pressure class of 3000 lb at 3000 psi, making it appropriate for high-pressure service lines. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting in systems where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping applications where a short close-nipple connection is needed between fittings, valves, or equipment ports. Approved media include air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam. The 316 stainless steel alloy provides elevated resistance to chlorides and high-temperature oxidation compared to standard 304 grades, making it a preferred choice in chemical-adjacent, coastal, or steam-service environments. It installs directly into standard 1/4 in female threaded ports without adapters.
Designed for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam media systems utilizing standard 1/4 in female threaded ports. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation nipple in SCH 80 stainless steel piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and ASME piping standards. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply a compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended media prior to threading the nipple into place. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as this can crack fittings or damage sealing surfaces.
