The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 51165 is a seamless Schedule 80 pipe nipple constructed from 304 stainless steel, designed for high-pressure piping connections in demanding service environments. Measuring 4.5 inches in length with a 2-inch diameter, it features male pipe thread (MPT) on both ends conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread standards with a 2-11.5 thread form. The SCH 80 wall thickness supports a pressure rating of 3000 psi, making it suitable for steam, gas, and fluid piping systems where corrosion resistance and structural integrity are required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this fitting class.
This nipple is rated for use in air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service lines, covering a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial piping applications. The 304 stainless steel construction makes it well suited for corrosive or high-moisture environments where carbon steel fittings would degrade. Typical installation scenarios include boiler rooms, process piping, HVAC hydronic systems, and steam distribution headers where a short close or extension nipple is needed between threaded components.
Designed for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service piping. Compatible with any standard 2-inch NPT threaded fitting or valve conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 thread specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing and mechanical codes, including IPC and IFGC guidelines where natural gas or steam service is involved. Isolate and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before threading the nipple into mating fittings. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
