The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 51128 is a seamless Schedule 80 pipe nipple machined from 304 stainless steel. It measures 5.5 inches in length with a 1.25-inch outside diameter and carries male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends, cut to the ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standard thread form at 1-1/4-11-1/2. The Schedule 80 wall thickness supports a working pressure rating of 3000 psi, making it suitable for demanding fluid and gas systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this nipple when joining threaded pipe sections in close-coupled or extension configurations across air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service lines.
This nipple is designed for both commercial and industrial piping systems where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. Typical applications include steam distribution headers, compressed air manifolds, natural gas supply piping, hydraulic oil lines, and potable or process water systems. Its seamless construction eliminates weld seams that can introduce stress concentrations, which is especially relevant in high-cycle or high-temperature environments. The 304 stainless steel base material resists oxidation and general corrosion across a wide range of service media.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service. Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for Schedule 80 stainless steel piping systems using 1-1/4 inch NPT connections conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC provisions depending on the service medium. Isolate and depressurize the line and allow it to cool before removing or threading any fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to the male threads before assembly. Do not use pipe wrenches on the fitting body in a way that could deform the seating surfaces, and do not overtighten, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
