The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 48161T is a Schedule 40 pipe nipple machined from 304 stainless steel, designed for use in plumbing, industrial piping, and fluid-handling systems where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required. It features a 2-inch threaded one end (TOE) connection on one side and a 2-inch plain end on the other, with an overall length of 2.5 inches. The TOE configuration allows the nipple to thread directly into a fitting or valve on one end while the plain end accommodates welding, cutting, or further fabrication. Threading conforms to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards. This nipple is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on Schedule 40 piping assemblies.
The 48161T suits residential and commercial applications where a short, corrosion-resistant nipple is needed to connect or extend a 2-inch Schedule 40 pipe run. Typical uses include water supply lines, process piping, chemical handling systems, and marine or outdoor installations where 304 stainless steel provides reliable performance against rust and mild corrosive exposure. The plain end makes it adaptable to socket-weld or cut-and-thread field modifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 2-inch Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe assemblies conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 thread specifications.
This nipple is typically installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on Schedule 40 piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to manufacturer or job-spec requirements using a strap wrench or pipe wrench sized for 2-inch pipe. The plain end should be prepared by a qualified tradesperson using proper cutting and deburring tools before welding or threading.
