The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 48111 is a Schedule 40 welded pipe nipple machined from 304 stainless steel for corrosion-resistant performance in demanding plumbing and industrial piping applications. Both ends are threaded to 1-inch MPT (male pipe thread) conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 standards, with a 1-11-1/2 thread specification. The nipple measures 8 inches in length and is rated for 150 psi working pressure. Its 304 stainless steel construction provides reliable resistance to oxidation and chemical exposure, making it well suited for water, gas, and process fluid systems where steel or galvanized fittings would corrode prematurely. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This pipe nipple is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems, process piping, water treatment, and HVAC hydronic circuits where stainless steel fittings are specified. The SCH 40 wall thickness and 1-inch diameter make it a standard choice for supply and return lines, pump connections, and manifold assemblies. It is sized for use wherever a full 8-inch close or extension nipple is required between threaded fittings or valves.
Designed as a standard Schedule 40, 1-inch MPT threaded pipe nipple compatible with ANSI B1.20.1 compliant fittings, valves, and threaded pipe connections in stainless steel or mixed-metal piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus wrench-tight turns using a pipe wrench - do not overtighten stainless steel threads, as galling can occur. Inspect threads for damage before installation and do not use the fitting if threads are deformed.
