The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 48086 is a welded pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in commercial and industrial plumbing, process piping, and fluid transfer applications. Constructed from 304 stainless steel with a Schedule 40 wall thickness, this nipple connects two threaded pipe runs using 3/4-14 NPT male threads on both ends. It measures 4 inches in length and carries a rated working pressure of 150 psi. The 304 stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance in wet and mildly corrosive service environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of new construction or repair work on threaded piping assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate systems, and general industrial pipe runs where Schedule 40 pressure ratings and stainless steel corrosion resistance are specified. It is a direct-use component in any system requiring a short threaded extension or coupling connection between two female-threaded ports. The 3/4-14 thread form conforms to ANSI B1.20.1, ensuring compatibility with standard NPT fittings and valves throughout a piping system.
Designed as a standard NPT threaded pipe fitting for use with Schedule 40 piping systems and any valve, fitting, or port conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 NPT thread standards at 3/4 inch diameter.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to a firm hand-tight plus wrench-turn engagement without over-torquing stainless steel threads, which are prone to galling. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for pressure testing after installation.
