The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 46051 is a brass needle valve designed for precise flow control in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping systems. It features male iron pipe (MIP) connections on both the inlet and outlet ends, sized at 1/4 inch nominal with a 1/4-18 thread size. Rated to 150 psi and operable across a wide temperature range of -45 to 250 degrees F, this valve suits both hot and cold service lines. The brass body provides corrosion resistance in water and air service, while the steel handle gives a firm grip during manual adjustment. A licensed plumber or HVAC technician is the typical installer for this type of valve.
The 46051 is suited for residential and light commercial applications where fine flow regulation is needed on small-diameter pipe runs. Common installation scenarios include instrument isolation, fuel gas accessories, compressed air lines, and hydronic system bypass circuits. The 1/4 inch MIP x MIP configuration makes it a direct thread-in solution on standard pipe fittings without adapters. Overall valve length from inlet to outlet is 1.69 inches, keeping the footprint compact in tight mechanical spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation needle valve for 1/4 inch male iron pipe threaded systems in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off system pressure and relieve line pressure completely before removing any existing valve or fitting. Apply thread sealant rated for the service fluid to all male threads before assembly. Do not use the handle as leverage when tightening the valve body into the piping - tighten at the body flats with an appropriately sized wrench.
