The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 44843LF is a 90-degree drop ear elbow fitting designed for connecting copper tubing to female iron pipe threaded outlets in residential and commercial plumbing systems. One end accepts a 3/4-inch sweat connection, while the other terminates in a 3/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread. The drop ear design includes integral mounting ears that allow the fitting to be secured directly to wall framing or backing, providing a stable anchor point for a supply stub-out. Constructed from lead-free bronze, this fitting meets current regulatory requirements for potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This fitting is commonly used in residential and light commercial rough-in work where a copper supply line terminates at a wall-mounted fixture connection, such as a shower arm, tub spout, or wall-supply valve. The sweat inlet integrates directly into a copper supply run, and the FIP outlet accepts a threaded fixture or supply adapter. The mounting ears allow the body to be fastened to a blocking or stud before wall finish is applied, preventing rotation during final connection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 3/4-inch copper sweat supply systems terminating at a 3/4-inch female iron pipe threaded connection point in residential and commercial plumbing rough-in applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the water supply and purge the line before soldering. Clean and flux all copper surfaces before sweating the connection, and allow the joint to cool fully before applying thread sealant or connecting threaded components. Secure the mounting ears to solid backing before covering the wall to prevent stress on the fitting during service.
