The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 44636LF is a square drive countersunk plug designed to seal threaded pipe openings in plumbing and waterworks systems. Machined from lead-free bronze, it meets current regulatory requirements for potable water applications. The plug uses a 1-1/4 in male pipe thread (MPT) connection with a 1-1/4-11-1/2 thread form and is rated for 125 lb pressure class service. The square drive socket measures 0.72 inches, accepting a standard square drive tool for installation and removal. Overall length is 0.74 inches. Plumbers and waterworks contractors install this fitting where a flush or recessed plug profile is required in tight or finished installations.
This countersunk plug is suited for residential and light commercial potable water distribution systems, irrigation connections, and general plumbing rough-in work where a low-profile threaded closure is needed. The lead-free bronze construction makes it appropriate for use in systems subject to lead-free compliance requirements under state and federal drinking water regulations. It is installed into female-threaded pipe, fittings, or valve bodies using a square drive wrench or bit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation countersunk plug for 1-1/4 in female MPT threaded pipe, fittings, and valve bodies in lead-free bronze plumbing and waterworks systems rated to 125 lb pressure class.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded plug. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation, following local plumbing code requirements such as IPC guidelines. Do not overtighten; use a calibrated square drive tool and follow standard trade practice for bronze fittings to avoid galling or cracking the fitting body.
