The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 444318 is a brass female-to-male hex adapter designed to connect 2-inch Female NPT plumbing or supply lines to 2.5-inch Male NST fire hose couplings. The hexagonal body provides a flat-wrench engagement surface for reliable torque during assembly and disassembly. Constructed from solid brass, this adapter resists corrosion in wet and high-humidity environments common to fire suppression and industrial water distribution systems. The transition from NPT to NST threading makes it a standard fit for bridging threaded pipe ends to fire hose connections. It is installed by licensed plumbers, fire suppression contractors, and facilities maintenance technicians.
This adapter is suited for fire protection systems, standpipe connections, pump discharge ports, and industrial hose stations where a NPT pipe thread must mate with a National Standard Thread hose coupling. At 3.55 inches wide and 3.15 inches long, it is compact enough for tight riser cabinets and hose valve assemblies. Typical applications include building fire hose cabinets, municipal water distribution points, and portable pump hookups. The brass construction meets common requirements for potable water and fire system hardware where ferrous materials are not acceptable.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for fire hose stations and standpipe systems requiring a 2-inch Female NPT to 2.5-inch Male NST adapter in brass construction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified fire suppression technician in accordance with applicable local codes and NFPA standards. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before threading on or removing this adapter. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for brass NPT connections on the female NPT side; NST connections typically use a gasket seal and do not require thread tape. Do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive force.
