The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 444027 is a brass female-to-male fire hose hex adapter designed to connect 2-1/2 inch female NST (National Standard Thread) fittings to 2-1/2 inch male NPSH (National Pipe Straight Hose) fittings. The hex body provides a secure grip point for wrench tightening, ensuring a leak-free connection under working pressure. Constructed entirely of brass, this adapter resists corrosion and holds up to repeated use in demanding fire suppression and hose management applications. At 1.17 pounds, it is a solid, full-metal fitting with no plastic components. Fire suppression contractors, municipal fire departments, and industrial safety personnel are the primary installers of this fitting.
This adapter is used wherever a female NST hose coupling must transition to a male NPSH threaded connection. Typical installations include fire hose rack assemblies, standpipe system connections, hydrant hookups, and portable pump discharge ports. The fitting is suited for both permanent building fire suppression infrastructure and mobile fire suppression equipment. Its brass construction makes it appropriate for potable-water-compatible systems as well as dedicated fire protection plumbing.
Designed as a standard fire hose hex adapter for use with fire hose assemblies and systems utilizing 2-1/2 inch NST and NPSH threaded connections.
Installation of fire hose fittings and standpipe system components should be performed by qualified fire suppression contractors or licensed plumbers familiar with NFPA 14 and local fire code requirements. Depressurize and isolate the system before removing or installing any hose fitting. Use a pipe wrench or spanner wrench on the hex body - do not grip the threaded ends directly. Verify thread type compatibility between mating fittings before final assembly to prevent cross-threading or leaks.
