The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 40213 is a seamless lead-free red brass pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial fluid-handling applications. It measures 12 inches in length with a 3-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection on each end. The nipple is rated for Schedule 40 service at a pressure class of 125 lb, with a working pressure of 510 psi at 100 degrees F. Wall thickness is 0.219 inches, providing the structural integrity expected of full-port, seamless brass construction. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for fittings of this size and pressure rating.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping systems where a straight threaded extension or connection between two female-threaded fittings is required. The 3-8 thread specification conforms to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards, making it compatible with standard NPT threaded valves, flanges, and fittings. Its broad temperature range of -20 to 400 degrees F supports hot water, steam, and other fluid-handling systems. The lead-free red brass material meets requirements for potable water and high-pressure service lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for threaded red brass piping systems using 3-inch NPT connections rated at Schedule 40 and 125 lb pressure class.
Installation of 3-inch brass pipe nipples of this pressure class should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off the water or fluid supply and fully depressurize the line before disassembly or installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up connections, and tighten to hand-snug plus wrench-tight per standard trade practice without over-torquing brass threads. Local plumbing codes, IPC, and ASME B31 guidelines should be followed for system pressure testing after installation.
