The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 40175 is a seamless lead-free red brass pipe nipple rated for demanding fluid and gas distribution applications. It measures 18 inches in length with a 2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) on each end, an inside diameter of 2.063 inches, and an outside diameter of 2.375 inches. Wall thickness is 0.156 inches, and the nipple carries a Schedule 40 rating with a 125 lb pressure class. Maximum working pressure is 540 psi at 100 degrees F. The seamless construction eliminates a longitudinal weld seam, reducing the risk of leak paths under pressure. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, and industrial piping systems where a close or run-length connection is needed between two threaded fittings or threaded equipment ports. The 2-11-1/2 thread specification conforms to ANSI B1.20.1, WW-N-351, and MS 51846 standards, making it appropriate for systems requiring dimensional compliance with those standards. The lead-free red brass material is compatible with potable water systems and performs across a temperature range of -20 to 400 degrees F.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch NPT threaded piping systems in plumbing, hydronic, and industrial applications conforming to Schedule 40 dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to the fitting manufacturer's specified engagement depth without over-torquing the brass threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
