The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 38241 is a 90-degree brass elbow fitting designed to connect 3/8-inch tube OD to a 1/2-inch male NPTF threaded port. Machined from brass, this fitting is rated for 150 psi working pressure and an operating temperature range of -40 to 200 degrees F. The 17/32-24 thread specification ensures a secure, leak-resistant connection at the NPTF interface. Center-to-end dimensions measure 0.95 inches by 1.11 inches, making it a compact solution for tight installations. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fleet mechanics working on air brake or refrigerant copper tubing lines will find this fitting suitable for a wide range of service applications.
This fitting is intended for use with SAE Type A and Type B copper tubing in D.O.T. air brake and copper tubing system applications. Its 90-degree angle makes it well-suited for routing lines around obstructions or changing direction within a system without bending the tubing itself. The NPTF male end provides a pressure-tight, dry-seal thread connection to a female-threaded port on valves, manifolds, or equipment bodies. It is commonly installed in both mobile and stationary compressed air plumbing assemblies.
Designed for use with SAE Type A and Type B copper tubing in D.O.T. air brake and copper tubing system assemblies requiring a 3/8-inch tube OD to 1/2-inch male NPTF connection.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, HVAC technician, or certified brake system mechanic. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. NPTF threads are designed to seal without thread sealant tape, but verify the mating female port is also NPTF before assembly. Do not overtighten; follow applicable torque guidelines for brass fittings per your system specifications and relevant codes such as IPC or applicable D.O.T. regulations.
