The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 38105-2412 is a 90-degree reducing elbow fitting designed for threaded pipe assemblies where the line must change direction and step down in diameter. Cast in bronze, it provides durable, corrosion-resistant performance in plumbing, water distribution, and mechanical piping systems. The 1-1/2 inch female pipe thread (FPT) inlet reduces to a 3/4 inch FPT outlet, allowing a single fitting to serve both direction change and pipe size reduction. With a 125 pressure class rating, it is suited for low- to medium-pressure water service applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting in commercial and residential installations governed by applicable plumbing codes.
This fitting is commonly installed in potable water lines, hydronic heating systems, irrigation manifolds, and general-purpose plumbing assemblies where bronze construction is required or preferred. The FPT-by-FPT configuration accepts standard NPT male-threaded pipe on both ends, making it compatible with copper, brass, and steel pipe nipples. The reducing geometry eliminates the need for a separate reducer coupling and elbow, saving space and reducing potential leak points in tight installations.
Designed for use with standard NPT-threaded pipe in residential and light commercial plumbing systems meeting 125 pressure class service requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local authority having jurisdiction. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before disassembling any portion of the piping system. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly and tighten with pipe wrenches to achieve a leak-free joint. Do not overtighten bronze fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
