The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 34588 is a stainless steel male beverage adapter designed to connect a 1/4-inch hose barb to a 1/4-inch male NPTF threaded fitting. It is a compact transition fitting used in beverage dispensing, food service, and light industrial fluid systems where corrosion resistance and sanitary materials are required. The adapter handles a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi, making it suitable for low-to-moderate pressure fluid lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and beverage equipment technicians install this fitting in draft beer systems, soda dispensing lines, and similar applications that demand stainless steel construction for hygiene and durability.
This adapter is suited for commercial and light industrial installations where a barbed hose connection must transition to a male NPTF pipe thread. Typical applications include draft beer draft towers, post-mix soda systems, and food-grade fluid transfer lines. The NPTF thread form provides a dry-seal connection that minimizes the risk of thread leakage without relying solely on thread sealant. The hose barb end accepts 1/4-inch ID tubing and secures the hose with a clamp for a leak-resistant connection in both pressurized and gravity-feed systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade fitting for beverage dispensing and food-service fluid systems using 1/4-inch hose barb and 1/4-inch male NPTF connections.
Installation is typically performed by a plumber, pipefitter, or qualified beverage equipment technician. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPTF threads per the system manufacturer's guidelines, even though NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal engagement. Secure the hose barb end with an appropriately sized hose clamp to maintain a leak-free connection under operating pressure.
