The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 34543 is a reducing hose splicer designed to join two hoses of different inside diameters within a fluid transfer line. The 3/8-inch barb end accepts standard 3/8-inch ID hose, while the 1/4-inch barb end connects to 1/4-inch ID hose, allowing a smooth transition between sizes without the need for additional adapters. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, the fitting resists corrosion in wet, chemical-exposed, or outdoor service environments. It is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi, making it suitable for low-to-medium pressure liquid and gas hose assemblies. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and industrial service professionals install this fitting wherever a barb-to-barb reducing connection is required.
This reducing hose splicer is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate and fluid lines, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance applications where two hose runs of differing diameters must be joined inline. The compact form factor fits in tight spaces, and the stainless steel construction holds up in environments where brass or plastic fittings may corrode or degrade over time. It is well suited for both new installations and repair work on existing hose assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for any hose assembly requiring a barbed inline reducer joining 3/8-inch ID hose to 1/4-inch ID hose.
Installation is performed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, or qualified service professionals working on fluid or low-pressure gas hose assemblies. Depressurize and drain the hose line completely before removing any existing fitting. Slide hose clamps onto each hose end before pushing the hose fully onto each barb, then position and tighten the clamps over the barbed section for a secure, leak-free seal. Follow all applicable plumbing and mechanical codes for the jurisdiction where the fitting is installed.
