The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 33058B is a hose barb-to-female adapter fitting made from polyethylene. It connects a 3/8-inch hose barb on one end to a 1/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread on the other. The fitting is molded in black polyethylene, rated for a maximum operating pressure of 125 psi, and handles a service temperature range of -65 to 190 degrees F. Plumbers, irrigation technicians, and general trade professionals install this type of fitting when transitioning between flexible hose and threaded pipe connections in low-pressure fluid systems.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and fluid-transfer applications where a flexible hose must terminate at a threaded female port. The 3/8-inch barb end accepts standard flexible tubing, secured with a clamp, while the 1/4-inch FIP end threads directly onto a male-threaded fitting or port. Its polyethylene construction makes it appropriate for water, some chemical transfer lines, and other applications compatible with PE materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or general-use plastic hose barb adapter for low-pressure fluid systems requiring a transition from 3/8-inch flexible hose to 1/4-inch female iron pipe thread.
Installation does not require specialized tools beyond a hose clamp driver and appropriate pipe wrench or pliers for the FIP connection. Shut off fluid supply and relieve line pressure before replacing or installing any fitting. Apply thread sealant tape to the male threaded mating component before engaging the FIP end. Do not overtighten the polyethylene fitting, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
