The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 32741 is a reusable male stem hose barb fitting machined from brass for use in low-pressure fluid and pneumatic hose assemblies. The barbed stem accepts hose with a 5/16-inch inner diameter and a 5/8-inch outer diameter, while the threaded end provides a 1/4-inch male NPTF connection with 1/4-18 thread pitch. Rated to 150 psi maximum operating pressure and capable of handling temperatures from -40 to 160 degrees F, this fitting is built for demanding service conditions. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and industrial mechanics install this type of fitting when assembling or field-repairing hose lines without specialized crimp tooling.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a reusable, field-serviceable hose connection is required. It is designed to work with standard hose clamps, similar type clamps, or a crimped ferrule, giving installers flexibility in the shop or in the field. Typical applications include low-pressure water, air, and hydraulic fluid lines where a secure NPTF-threaded port connection is needed on one end and a barbed hose retention feature on the other.
Designed for use with hose having a 5/16-inch inner diameter and a 5/8-inch outer diameter, secured with a hose clamp, similar type clamp, or a crimped ferrule. Suitable for standard 1/4-inch NPTF-ported equipment in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, and pneumatic systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified mechanic. Shut off and bleed pressure from the hose assembly completely before disassembly or installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant to the NPTF threads and torque to the equipment manufacturer's specification. Secure the hose to the barbed stem with a properly sized clamp or ferrule to prevent blow-off under pressure.
