The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 30270 is a brass swivel connector designed to join push-on hose assemblies to female JIC flare ports in fluid and pneumatic lines. One end features a 5/16-inch push-on hose barb for tool-free hose attachment. The other end is a 3/8-inch female 37-degree JIC swivel, allowing the hose to rotate freely after installation without twisting or stressing the line. The fitting measures 1.5 inches in length with a 0.68-inch hex for wrench engagement. Maximum operating pressure is 150 psi. The all-brass construction resists corrosion and suits a wide range of compatible media. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system installers use this fitting in low-to-medium pressure plumbing and fluid transfer applications.
The 30270 is suited for residential and light commercial fluid line connections where a push-on hose barb must terminate at a JIC swivel port. Typical applications include hydraulic fluid lines, fuel transfer assemblies, refrigeration ancillary lines, and general fluid conveyance systems requiring a 37-degree flare swivel end. The swivel design simplifies routing in tight spaces by eliminating the need to spin the entire hose assembly during connection. This fitting is appropriate wherever a standard 3/8-inch female JIC flare port is present and a 5/16-inch push-on hose is used on the mating side.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using 5/16-inch push-on hose and 3/8-inch female JIC flare swivel ports rated at or below 150 psi.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or qualified HVAC and hydraulic system technicians. Depressurize and drain the affected line completely before removing or installing any fitting. Use a calibrated torque wrench on the hex to achieve a proper seat on the 37-degree JIC flare without over-tightening. Inspect the mating flare seat for nicks or damage before assembly, as a compromised seat surface will prevent a leak-free connection regardless of torque applied.
