The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 30232 is a brass adapter fitting that connects a 5/16-inch push-on hose barb on one end to a 5/16-inch female SAE 45-degree / 37-degree JIC swivel on the other. The dual-angle swivel end accepts both SAE 45-degree flare and 37-degree JIC flare connections, making this fitting versatile across a range of hydraulic and fluid transfer lines. Rated to a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi, the 30232 measures 1.56 inches in length with a 0.62-inch hex for standard wrench engagement. It is installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic service pros working with small-diameter flexible hose assemblies.
This adapter is suited for low-pressure fluid lines in residential and light commercial applications where a push-on hose barb must transition to a female SAE or JIC flare swivel. Typical uses include fuel lines, oil lines, coolant circuits, and other service runs using 5/16-inch flexible hose. The swivel design allows the mating line to be positioned without twisting the hose during assembly, simplifying installation in tight spaces.
Designed for use with 5/16-inch push-on hose and SAE 45-degree or 37-degree JIC flare female swivel connections; suited as a replacement or retrofit fitting in low-pressure fluid line assemblies using 1/2-20 threaded SAE or JIC couplings.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber or fluid systems technician familiar with SAE and JIC flare fittings. Shut off all fluid supply and relieve line pressure completely before disconnecting or installing any fitting. Hand-tighten the swivel end onto the mating flare seat first, then snug with a wrench - do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material can crack or deform under excessive torque. Confirm the push-on hose barb end is fully seated onto the hose and that the assembly is leak-tested before returning the system to service.
