The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 29S-4 is a straight hose-to-hose splicer fitting machined from brass, designed to join two lengths of flexible hose using 1/4-inch hose barb connections on both ends. It handles a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi and performs across a temperature range of -40 to 160 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of fluid and pneumatic transfer applications. At 0.02 pounds and just under 2 inches in length, it is a compact, lightweight fitting that installs quickly without special tooling. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors regularly use this type of splicer for repair and inline connection tasks.
This splicer is suited for residential and light commercial applications where two sections of compatible flexible hose must be joined in-line. It is intended for use with hose barb clamps, similar-style clamps, or crimped ferrules to ensure a secure, leak-free connection. Typical installation scenarios include fuel lines, coolant lines, pneumatic tubing, and general fluid transfer systems where a 1/4-inch inside-diameter hose is present on both sides of the connection point.
Designed for use with standard 1/4-inch inside-diameter flexible hose secured by hose barb clamps, similar-style clamps, or crimped ferrules. Suitable for general-purpose hose repair and splicing in fluid and pneumatic transfer applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC or mechanical technician. Shut off fluid or air supply and relieve system pressure fully before disconnecting any hose. Slide the retaining clamp or ferrule onto the hose before seating the barb, then position the clamp over the barb bead and tighten or crimp to the hose manufacturer's specification. Verify there are no leaks under normal operating pressure before returning the system to service.
