The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 29ESB-54 is a 90-degree single barb elbow fitting machined from brass, designed to connect flexible fuel hose to threaded ports in low-pressure fuel and fluid systems. One end accepts 5/16-inch single barb hose, and the other end terminates in a 1/4-inch male NPTF thread with a 1/4-18 thread pitch. The fitting handles a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi and is rated for service from -40 to 160 degrees F. Plumbers, fuel system technicians, and small engine service pros use this type of fitting when routing hose through tight corners where a straight barb would create excessive bend stress on the hose.
This elbow fitting is specified for use with SAE 30R7 and SAE 30R9 rated fuel hose, making it suitable for gasoline and diesel fuel line applications in small engine, marine, and light equipment systems. The 90-degree angle allows a clean hose routing change of direction at a threaded port without kinking the hose. The male NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight dry-seal connection at the receiving port, reducing dependence on thread sealant for a leak-free joint. This part falls within the MAF/USA Brass Fittings hose barb product line.
Designed for use with SAE 30R7 and SAE 30R9 rated fuel hose with a 5/16-inch inside diameter barb connection, mating to a 1/4-18 female NPTF threaded port.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with fuel system service. Shut off fuel supply and relieve any line pressure before disassembling existing fittings. Secure the hose barb end with an appropriate hose clamp torqued to the clamp manufacturer's specification. NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal assembly, but a thread sealant compatible with fuel service may be applied per shop practice and applicable codes.
