The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28975 is a forged brass 90-degree elbow fitting that transitions between a 3/8-inch Male 37-degree JIC flare connection and a 1/4-inch Female Iron Pipe (FIP) thread. Engineered for high-pressure hydraulic and fluid system applications, this fitting carries a maximum operating pressure of 2842 psi. The forged brass construction provides the structural integrity required for demanding service environments. Thread specifications are 9/16-18 on the JIC side and 1/4-18 NPT on the FIP side. Plumbers, pipefitters, and hydraulic system technicians install this type of fitting where a directional change is needed between JIC flare and pipe thread connections.
This elbow fitting is suited for use in hydraulic lines, fuel systems, and compressed fluid circuits where a JIC 37-degree flare meets a female pipe thread port. The 90-degree configuration allows routing changes in tight spaces without requiring additional adapters. It is commonly installed in both residential and light commercial equipment wherever these two connection standards interface. Center-to-end dimensions of 1.23 inches by 0.88 inches allow for accurate layout planning during assembly or repair work.
Designed as a standard JIC 37-degree flare to female pipe thread elbow adapter for hydraulic, fuel, and fluid systems requiring a 3/8-inch Male JIC to 1/4-inch FIP transition.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or hydraulic technician familiar with JIC flare and NPT pipe thread fittings. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply thread sealant on the NPT side only - never apply sealant to the JIC flare face, as the metal-to-metal seat provides the seal. Torque the JIC fitting to snug contact and then follow standard JIC assembly practice; over-tightening can damage the flare seat.
