The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28675W is a reducer hex bushing designed to transition between a 1-1/4 inch male pipe thread (MPT) inlet and a 1 in female pipe thread (FPT) outlet. Molded from nylon, this bushing handles pressures up to 125 psi and is rated for temperatures from -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F. The hex body provides a flat wrench surface for secure installation and removal. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors use this fitting to reduce pipe diameter within threaded plastic piping assemblies in both residential and light commercial applications.
This reducer hex bushing is suited for threaded plastic pipe systems where a size reduction from 1-1/4 inch to 1 in is required. Thread specification is 1-1/4-11-1/2 on the male end and 1-11-1/2 on the female end, conforming to standard NPT taper thread dimensions. Typical applications include water distribution lines, irrigation systems, and other low-pressure fluid handling systems where nylon's corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are an advantage over metal fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded nylon and compatible plastic pipe systems using 1-1/4 in MPT x 1 in FPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before installing or removing any threaded fittings. Use PTFE thread tape or an approved thread sealant on male threads to ensure a leak-free connection. Do not overtighten nylon fittings with a pipe wrench, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body.
