The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28498 is a long pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. Constructed from yellow brass with a 3/4-14 thread form, this nipple connects two NPTF-threaded fittings or components with a male-to-male configuration. It measures 2-1/2 inches in length and is rated for pressures up to 120 psi across a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. Its yellow brass construction provides corrosion resistance and reliable sealing in both wet and dry service applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting in a wide range of fluid and gas piping systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a short male-to-male threaded extension is needed between valves, unions, tees, or other fittings. It is compatible for use with brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, and iron pipe systems, making it a versatile component across multiple piping material types. Typical applications include water supply lines, fuel gas distribution, compressed air, and hydronic heating systems where NPTF thread engagement and pressure integrity are required.
Rated for use with brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, and iron pipe. Suitable as a standard NPTF threaded nipple in any system accepting 3/4 in male NPTF connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the service type. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape compatible with the service medium to NPTF threads as required by the application. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as this can crack the fitting body or distort the thread sealing surface.
