The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28331 is a DOT-approved 90-degree long street elbow designed for use in compressed air, fuel, and fluid piping systems where a directional change is required in a tight space. The fitting connects 1/4-inch Female NPTF on one end to 1/4-inch Male NPTF on the other, allowing inline routing without additional couplings. Constructed from brass, it resists corrosion and withstands the pressure and vibration demands common in mobile equipment and stationary plumbing applications. At 1.875 inches in length, the long-pattern body provides additional thread engagement and clearance compared to standard street elbows, making it suitable for close-quarter installations.
This fitting is used in residential, commercial, and mobile applications where a 90-degree directional change is needed in a 1/4-inch NPTF line. Typical install scenarios include air compressor plumbing, hydraulic lines, fuel system connections, and general pipe assemblies on trucks, trailers, and service equipment. The DOT approval makes it appropriate for use in regulated vehicle and transport fluid systems. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fleet mechanics commonly install this type of fitting during new system builds and service repairs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation brass pipe fitting for 1/4-inch NPTF piping systems in mobile equipment, compressed air, fuel, and general fluid service applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, HVAC technician, or fleet mechanic familiar with NPTF threaded fittings. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, following the sealant manufacturer instructions and any applicable code requirements such as IPC or IFGC. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as excessive force can crack the body or distort the threads.
