The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28268B is a barstock 90-degree male elbow fitting machined from brass for use in pipe systems requiring a right-angle directional change. Both ends terminate in 3/8 inch male NPTF threads with a 3/8-18 thread specification, providing a pressure-tight dry seal without a separate sealant in many applications. Rated to 1200 psi, this elbow handles demanding fluid and gas service across a wide temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting wherever a compact, high-integrity 90-degree turn is needed in a piping run.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications involving aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe. Typical installation scenarios include compressed air lines, hydraulic circuits, fuel systems, and general fluid transfer where a male-to-male 90-degree turn is required. The barstock construction delivers tighter dimensional tolerances compared to cast fittings, making it well-suited for close-tolerance installations. The 1.01 inch center-to-end dimension supports precise layout planning in tight spaces.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe systems using 3/8 inch male NPTF connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC depending on the fluid or gas being conveyed. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before disassembling existing fittings or installing new ones. NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal engagement, but inspect threads for damage before assembly and use appropriate thread sealant if required by the application or local code. Do not overtighten, as brass fittings can be damaged by excessive torque.
