The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28210 is a brass hex pipe nipple with 1/16-inch Male NPTF connections on both ends. It measures 0.97 inches in length with a 0.38-inch hex body, allowing a wrench to seat firmly during installation. The 1/16-27 thread form provides a pressure-rated, dryseal mechanical connection without relying solely on thread sealant. Rated to 1200 psi and capable of handling temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this nipple is suited for compressed air, hydraulic, fuel, and other fluid transfer lines where a short close-nipple transition is required. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians use this fitting to connect or extend small-diameter pipe runs.
This hex nipple is designed for use in tight-space applications where a standard close nipple lacks a wrench flat. The 1/16-inch NPTF thread size makes it common in instrument ports, gauge connections, and small-bore pneumatic or hydraulic assemblies found in both residential and light commercial systems. Its compact profile suits panel-mounted fittings, manifolds, and equipment ports where thread engagement space is limited.
Rated for use with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe. The 1/16-inch Male NPTF x Male NPTF configuration is a standard instrument and gauge port size common across residential and commercial fluid system applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or HVAC technicians working with small-bore piping systems. De-energize and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. NPTF threads are designed to seal mechanically, but thread sealant or PTFE tape is commonly applied per job specifications and applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Do not over-torque small-diameter brass fittings, as the hex body can deform and compromise the seal.
