The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28150 is a long pipe nipple with 3/8-inch Male NPTF threads on both ends, machined from yellow brass for reliable service in plumbing, HVAC, and general piping systems. At 2.5 inches in length with a 3/8-18 thread specification, it provides a slightly extended reach between fittings where a close or short nipple will not bridge the gap. Rated to 120 psi and suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 250 degrees F, this nipple is sized for everyday residential and light commercial work. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians reach for this fitting when connecting threaded pipe runs requiring a defined extension segment.
This long nipple is designed for use in piping systems that incorporate brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, or iron pipe. Common applications include water supply lines, compressed air distribution, fuel gas assemblies, and hydronic heating circuits where a short threaded extension is needed between valves, tees, elbows, or equipment connections. Its yellow brass construction resists corrosion in wet and humid environments, making it well suited for mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and utility installations where mixed-metal piping configurations are common.
Suitable for use with brass, bronze, copper, steel, aluminum, and iron pipe systems using 3/8-inch NPTF threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, following the sealant manufacturer's instructions for the media being conveyed. Do not over-tighten; hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to achieve a proper seated engagement without stressing the fitting body.
