The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28136 is a long pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial fluid systems. Manufactured from yellow brass, it features 3/4-in Male NPTF threads on both ends with a 3/4-14 thread pitch and an overall length of 1-1/2 inches. Rated to 1000 psi, this nipple is built to handle demanding pressure applications. The NPTF thread form creates a dry-seal connection that reduces the risk of leaks without requiring additional sealant, though thread tape or compound is commonly applied per job requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a short male-to-male threaded extension or close nipple replacement is needed. It is compatible with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe, making it a versatile fitting across mixed-material piping systems. Operating temperatures range from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, covering most hydronic heating, compressed air, fuel gas, and general fluid service applications where brass fittings are code-appropriate.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe systems using standard 3/4-in NPTF threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns for the fitting material - do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque. Inspect the connection for leaks after restoring system pressure.
