The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 28135 is a close pipe nipple designed for tight-space pipe connections where a standard or hex nipple will not fit. Machined from brass, this nipple measures 1.31 inches in length and features 3/4-in Male NPTF threads on both ends with a 3/4-14 thread pitch. It is rated to 1000 psi and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F. Close nipples like this one are installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians in both residential and light commercial applications where a near-zero-length threaded connection is required between two female-threaded fittings or valves.
This close nipple is suited for use in plumbing, HVAC, and general fluid-transfer piping systems where space constraints prevent the use of longer nipples. It performs reliably in water, air, oil, and gas service lines within its rated pressure and temperature range. Its brass construction makes it a practical choice in mixed-metal piping assemblies where corrosion resistance and machinability matter. Installers commonly use this type of fitting at valve bodies, manifolds, and pump ports in residential and commercial mechanical rooms.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel pipe systems with 3/4-in female NPTF-threaded connections. Compatible with any fitting, valve, or equipment port accepting a 3/4-14 NPTF male thread.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and IFGC requirements for the service type. Depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply a compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium - NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal engagement but sealant is recommended for most liquid and gas applications. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench sized for the fitting and follow standard trade practice for brass fittings, which are more susceptible to thread damage than iron.
