The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 27193 is a brass compression adapter designed for connecting 1/2 inch compression tubing to 1/4 inch male iron pipe (MIP) threads. It ships assembled with the 27006 self-aligning sleeve, which helps center the tube during ferrule compression and reduces the chance of a misaligned bite that causes leaks. Constructed from brass, this fitting delivers corrosion resistance and reliable sealing performance in pressurized fluid and gas lines. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting where a transition from compression tubing to a threaded male port is required in tight or hard-to-reach installations.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration applications where a compression-to-MIP connection is needed. Typical use cases include connecting copper or compatible tubing to threaded valve bodies, manifolds, or equipment ports. The self-align sleeve is particularly useful in confined spaces where straight tube insertion is difficult to confirm visually. Installed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians, this fitting is appropriate for both new construction and service replacement work.
Designed as an OEM-style special compression assembly fitting for use in plumbing and HVAC systems requiring a 1/2 inch compression to 1/4 inch MIP adapter connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water or fluid supply and relieve system pressure completely before working on any compression fitting. Do not overtighten the compression nut - snug plus a controlled fraction of a turn is standard practice for brass compression fittings, and excess torque can crack the ferrule or distort the fitting body. Ensure the tubing end is cleanly cut, deburred, and fully seated against the fitting shoulder before tightening.
