The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 27176 is a brass compression-to-MIP adapter designed for small-bore tubing connections in plumbing and gas distribution applications. It incorporates a 27001 self-aligning sleeve that compensates for minor misalignment during assembly, reducing the risk of thread cross-threading and ferrule distortion. The adapter accepts a 1/8 inch compression fitting on one end and a 1/8 inch male iron pipe (MIP) thread on the other. Constructed from brass, this fitting delivers corrosion resistance and reliable sealing in both water and compatible gas service. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting where a compression tube line must terminate at a threaded pipe port.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration line sets, and instrument tubing applications where 1/8 inch connections are standard. The self-align sleeve design is particularly useful in tight quarters where straight tube alignment is difficult to achieve before tightening. Typical installations include supply line transitions, control valve inlets, and gauge port connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/8 inch compression tube-to-MIP threaded port connections in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water or gas supply and depressurize the line before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the sleeve before applying a final snug turn with a wrench - do not overtighten, as brass fittings are subject to thread damage under excessive torque. Verify thread compatibility and confirm sealant or thread tape requirements for the MIP side per the applicable code or manufacturer guidance.
