The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 262RX8X6 is a brass reducing union fitting designed to connect two lines of different diameters using compression-style connections. One end accepts 1/2 inch compression and the other accepts 3/8 inch compression, making it a practical solution wherever a line size change is required without soldering or threading. Rated to 200 psi and suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles demanding service conditions in plumbing and mechanical applications. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life in wet or humid environments.
This reducing union is intended for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing. It is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration lines, pneumatic systems, and gas service applications where a compression-to-compression reducer is required. The 11/16-20 thread specification and 0.68 inch hex dimension allow for installation with standard hand tools. The center-to-center length of 1.03 inches makes it a compact choice in tight spaces. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters are the typical installers of this fitting type.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing. Suitable as a compression-style reducing union in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and pneumatic line applications requiring a 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch size transition.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or gas fitter. Shut off and depressurize the line before disassembly or installation of any compression fitting. Use an appropriately sized wrench on the 0.68 inch hex flats and avoid over-tightening, which can damage the compression sleeve or tubing. Verify that all tubing ends are cut cleanly and deburred before seating them into the fitting.
