The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 26234 is a captive sleeve male 90-degree elbow fitting designed to connect 3/8-inch compression tubing to a 3/8-inch male NPTF threaded port. Constructed from brass, this fitting is suited for use in gas, fluid, and instrumentation lines where a reliable right-angle transition between a compression line and a threaded connection is required. The captive sleeve design retains the compression sleeve on the fitting body, reducing the chance of lost components during installation. At 0.085 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting appropriate for tight routing situations. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters typically install this type of fitting in residential and light commercial applications.
This fitting is used wherever a 90-degree directional change is needed between a compression tube run and an NPTF threaded port. Common applications include gas appliance connections, fuel supply lines, instrumentation tubing, and refrigeration or fluid systems that require a right-angle male threaded termination. The NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight mechanical seal without relying solely on thread sealant. It is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC installations where brass compression fittings are the standard of practice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using 3/8-inch compression tubing and 3/8-inch female NPTF threaded ports in brass fitting applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off all gas or fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on the NPTF threads per system requirements, and tighten the compression nut by hand before applying final torque with a wrench. Do not overtighten the compression nut, as brass fittings can be damaged by excessive force.
