The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 26154L is a brass captive sleeve adapter designed to connect a 3/8-inch compression fitting to a 3/8-inch female iron pipe (FIP) threaded port. The captive sleeve design retains the compression sleeve on the fitting body during handling and installation, reducing the chance of lost components on the job. Threaded at 9/16-24 on the compression side and 3/8-18 NPT on the FIP side, this adapter is suited for plumbing, refrigeration, and gas distribution applications where a reliable metal-to-metal seal is required. It is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians working on copper or compatible tubing systems.
This adapter is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC systems where compression tubing must transition to a female threaded port on a valve, manifold, or appliance fitting. The all-brass construction makes it appropriate for potable water, gas, and refrigerant line applications in both new construction and retrofit work. Its compact size allows installation in tight spaces typical of equipment rooms and utility connections.
Designed as an OEM-style brass compression-to-FIP adapter for use with standard 3/8-inch compression tubing and 3/8-inch female iron pipe threaded fittings in plumbing and HVAC piping assemblies. Compatible sleeve nut is the MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 26005 Captive Sleeve Nut.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut first, then apply a measured wrench turn to seat the sleeve without over-torquing the brass threads. Do not use thread sealant tape on the compression end; apply sealant only to the NPT FIP threads as required by the fitting service.
