The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 26062 is a brass captive sleeve compression union designed to join two tubing runs with matching 1/8-inch compression connections on each end. It mates with the 26001 nut and uses a 5/16-24 thread for a secure, leak-resistant seal. The all-brass construction handles a wide service temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for refrigeration lines, instrument tubing, fuel systems, and similar low-pressure fluid or gas circuits. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and instrumentation professionals install this fitting where a straight inline union is needed without soldering or threading the tubing itself.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial applications where 1/8-inch OD tubing must be connected, extended, or repaired inline. Typical installations include instrument air lines, pilot gas tubing, hydraulic sensing lines, and small-diameter refrigerant or fuel lines. The captive sleeve design keeps the compression sleeve retained on the fitting body, which speeds assembly and reduces the chance of losing components during service work in tight mechanical spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style captive sleeve compression union for 1/8-inch OD tubing; mates with MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 26001 nut as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC for fuel gas piping. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the fitting body until snug, then advance with a wrench per standard compression fitting practice - do not overtighten, as brass compression seats can deform. Inspect the tubing end for burrs or ovality before inserting into the fitting, as imperfect tubing ends are a leading cause of compression joint leaks.
