The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 248X7 is a brass half union adapter designed to connect SAE 45-degree male flared tubing to a female pipe thread port in hydraulic and fluid system applications. One end accepts a 7/16-inch SAE 45-degree male flare connection with an 11/16-16 thread; the other end terminates in a 1/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) at a 1/4-18 thread specification. Rated to 750 psi and suitable for operating temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting handles demanding service conditions. The all-brass construction resists corrosion and provides reliable sealing in tubing runs where a transition from flare to pipe thread is required.
This half union adapter is used in residential and light commercial hydraulic tubing systems, refrigeration lines, fuel lines, and related fluid-transfer applications where flared tubing must terminate at a pipe-threaded port or component. It is compatible with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared. A minimum tube wall thickness of 0.032 inches is required to ensure proper flare integrity at the 7/16-inch connection. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system installers typically specify this type of fitting during new installations and service repairs.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared, requiring a minimum tube wall thickness of 0.032 inches at the 7/16-inch SAE 45-degree flare end.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified hydraulic system technician. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Verify that the tubing is properly flared to the SAE 45-degree specification before tightening to avoid leaks or fitting damage. Apply thread sealant appropriate for the fluid service on the MPT end; do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
