The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 248X3 is a brass half union adapter designed to connect SAE 45-degree male flared tubing to male pipe thread (MPT) in hydraulic and fluid-handling systems. The fitting transitions a 3/16-inch flare connection on one end to a 1/8-inch MPT connection on the other, using a 3/8-24 x 1/8-27 thread configuration. Rated to 1900 psi and suitable for operating temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F, this adapter is built for demanding service conditions. The hex body measures 0.43 inches across flats for wrench engagement, and overall length is 1 inch. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system installers are the primary trades working with this fitting.
This adapter is intended for use in hydraulic lines, refrigeration tubing runs, fuel lines, and similar fluid-transfer applications where a flare-to-pipe-thread transition is required. It is compatible with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared to the SAE 45-degree specification. Typical installations include low-pressure hydraulic circuits, OEM fluid-line assemblies, and service replacements where a compact, one-piece union adapter is needed at a pipe-thread port.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, copper, and steel hydraulic tubing that can be flared to the SAE 45-degree standard. Compatible tubing must have a minimum wall thickness of 0.03 inches.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or qualified hydraulic system mechanic. Depressurize and drain the fluid system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Use a calibrated flaring tool to produce a clean, consistent SAE 45-degree flare on the tubing end before assembly; damaged or uneven flares are a leading cause of joint leakage. Apply thread sealant to the MPT threads as required by the applicable plumbing or fluid-system code, and tighten to the fitting manufacturer's recommendation using a wrench on the hex body rather than on the tubing.
